The band wanted to make a series of T-shirts featuring song titles and lyrics to be sold during the touring dates for the album How I Learned to Stop Giving a Shit and Love Mindless Self Indulgence. This shirt was sold exclusively online for the album cycle. For the song A La Mode, the band wanted to do a funny ice cream image based on the lyric "ice cream will fix it". I drew an illustration of an ice cream cone with sprinkles and tried out different comical faces on the scoop area. The band chose an expression and also wanted to see a version with ice cream splotches on the front. I chose an 80's style iron-on letter font for the lyric line on the back and highlighted the "fix it" type by making the words white and putting a dripping ice cream splotch underneath. At the back collar, I created a band name acronym logo of puffy pink lettering with sprinkles to refer back to the front image. I created a T-shirt mockup showing art in position, and sent this to the band. Upon approval of the final version, I sent the full-size art and mockup to the merch production company.
